Discover The Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts
The Pioneer Valley, located in Western Massachusetts along the Connecticut River Valley, is tucked between the Berkshires to the West and Worcester to the East. This part of the state is known for its colleges, which include Mount Holyoke, Smith, Amherst, and the main branch of the University of Massachusetts, as well as its beautiful farmland that produces asparagus in the spring, apples in the fall, and many other local crops. These two facets contribute to a thriving food scene that’s filled with restaurants that serve local produce and international flavors. Northampton would make a great home base for exploring the area, though our eating and drinking itinerary will also take you to Holyoke, Easthampton, Springfield, and beyond.
